As Associate Architect, Self + Tucker Architects provided design services as well as interior detail and millwork design for the new 54,000 sq. ft. physician’s office building which provides approximately 200 offices for physicians, residents and medical fellows. The new building was labeled as a “background” building, so much effort was given to create a building that was unique to its function and did not overshadow the new hospital tower. Simple massing forms and humble finishes crafts a structure that is strictly about function. STA also led the design of a new five-story, 765-space garage to accommodate increased patient and physician parking. This addition led to a net gain of 400 spaces. A new canopy structure leads visitors to a modest entry pavilion which directs visitors down to an existing tunnel. The tunnel offers safe passage across the street to the research and hospital towers.
