Memphis Innovation Corridor mConnect BRT Stations
mConnect, the Memphis Innovation Corridor Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is the first BRT line in the City of Memphis. A 2019 USDOT BUILD grant was awarded to the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) and the City of Memphis. The Memphis Innovation Corridor connects Downtown Memphis, the Memphis Medical District, Midtown Memphis, and the University of Memphis districts along Second Street and BB King Boulevard, Union Avenue, and Poplar Avenue It is our design intention that the mConnect Bus Rapid Transit project will improve mobility, connectivity, and accessibility, as well as, help spur local economic growth and change the public perception of passenger transit. These shelters incorporate the latest in transit engineering, manufacturing techniques and materials innovation, as well as, state of the art transport technology and solar powered lighting. Passenger amenities include ticket vending machines, digital information displays, audio service information and advertising displays. Built in Seating is provided by Cali Bamboo Composite Decking on top of the Concrete Curbs of the Platform. We hope the new shelters will be appreciated for their iconic, attractive design, engineering soundness and extensive passenger conveniences.
